No more stupid hours (for work)

July 4, 2005 Comments off

Good grief – I just realized it’s almost 1am!  <sigh>  So much for sticking to a normal schedule.

For the last year-plus I’ve been getting up at 5:30a three (or more) mornings a week to throw myself together and get to my tired ass to the office to man our helpdesk line for our traders.  That’s the downside of working in the investment sector when you live on the west coast … the damn markets open at 6:30a.  And can you believe there’s a rumor going around that they’re thinking of opening another hour earlier?!?

Well, the crack of dawn thing is over!  We’ve gotten our systems so stabable and reliable that none of our team is going to show up until 8a.  90% of what might go wrong we can fix remotely; and our boss lives 5 minutes away from the office so someone’s close if they can’t find batteries for their wireless mice.  🙂

So no more falling asleep while driving in … or home.  Hurray!

Okay – it’s now after 1a … I’ve gotta go to sleep!  I guess while I no longer get doled out punnishing working hours, I still have to figure a way to keep from doing it to myself.  Hints anyone?

Top Gear – TV for car nerds

July 1, 2005 Comments off

Alicea and I actually caught the episode the other night the guys at Autoblog are referring to.  It was pretty damn cool, if I do say so myself.  I think we’ve found a new series to record on our PVR.  🙂

Top Gear on the Discovery Channel:

top gearI was hoping to head up my own production inspired by Top Gear in the U.S. and then these Discovery Channel people come in and steal all the fun. At least others will be able to experience the enjoyment of Top Gear on the Discovery Channel. Actually, they have already aired an episode on Wednesday night, but you can catch an encore at 6 PM EST on the Discovery Channel on Saturday. This is the best automotive television show in the world, period. You will be doing yourself a serious injustice if you don’t watch it. In the current episode, Jeremy Clarkson attempts to outrun an Apache helicopter’s missile lock in a Lotus Exige.

Testing BlogJet

July 1, 2005 2 comments

KCleaningOkay, so I’m testing a new blogging tool called BlogJet.  I saw this recommended on Scoble’s page.  Seems pretty cool so far, but time will tell.  I like w.bloggar too, but sometimes it’s a bit clunky.  I like that this can edit WYSIWYG.  I can see bold, italic, colors, etc.  Heck, I can even see how images are going to look!

In the meantime enjoy Kaitlyn laid back … “with my mind on my money and my money on my mind.”
