Christmas Wish List

November 29, 2007 Comments off

Here’s my wish list for Christmas this year.  Thanks Santa!

  1. Honda audio adapter.  I love my Honda, but one of its shortcomings is the lack of audio input jack.  I absolutely love the redesigned Microsoft Zune and have subscribed to a number of podcasts.  Now I need to be able to listen to those on my commute.

  2. 2 work lights.  Whenever I’m working on stuff in the garage, or behind the entertainment center, or under a desk, or …. I never seem to have enough light for the task at hand.  These would be quite handy!

  3. HD Home Run.  Digital TV tuner (including HDTV) that can be used by our Windows Vista Media Center.  OH YEAH!!!

  4. Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset.  Awesome sound clarity by blocking out background noises so Alicea can hear me in server rooms.  🙂

New Zune – WOW!!!

November 13, 2007 Comments off

I have a Zune (30GB black) that I won at TechEd 2007.  It’s been usable, but the software always ticked me off.  Today Microsoft released a major upgrade to the Zune desktop software and device firmware, along with some new devices.

IT’S AMAZING!!!  I love it!  I think I’ve found my new media player (been using Windows Media Player 11).  I can even play media while my Zune is connected to my laptop and charging (big issue I had with version 1).

Here’s a cool view of my music library while Mr. Matthews rocks my laptop…

And here’s the intuitive type-and-search feature.  You can search on artist, album, or title just by clicking in that column and typing your search – it searches on the fly.

Can’t wait to explore all this some more as I have time.  Between now and then – WOOHOO!  A big shout out to Molly and all the other folks at Zune HQ.  WELL DONE!

LA Observation

November 12, 2007 Comments off

It has occurred to me that there seems to be a rule for women here in LA; at least those here in the downtown financial/business district.  Okay maybe not a rule, but perhaps a rule of thumb.

High heels must be at least 33% taller here than anywhere else in the country.

GOOD GRIEF ladies – I don’t understand how you do it!?!  That’s gotta hurt!

It’s like flats here in LA are really 2″ heels … and all shoes go up from there.  Heck, even the trendy surfers-turned-businessmen have significant heels on their patent leather shoes!

Anyway, here’s to me walking around in my slip-on Merrils with no heels at all.

Why yes, I am still alive

November 7, 2007 2 comments

A number of times a week I think, “Wow – this would make a great blog post.”  Obviously that’s about as far as it gets.

I apologize.

Will I do better?  Hopefully.  Maybe.  Traveling a lot in the next week or so, so it’ll be a challenge.  Wish me luck!
